About this Website
This site was developed in the Summer of 2019 by student midwife Andrea Keating as the final project for a Bachelors of Science degree in Midwifery from the Midwives College of Utah (MCU). An excerpt from her project proposal explains the inspiration and development process that led to the creation of this resource:
"This course has allowed me to explore a growing concern I have had that many parents seem under-prepared for the postpartum, particularly with their first child. I didn’t know if my concerns would be shared by others, or reflected in current research, but I was very interested in learning more. Conducting a literature review, interviewing midwives, and surveying postpartum parents on their expectations and experience of the postpartum allowed me to delve deeply into this topic. The research I found, and the content of my communications with midwives and parents, built my confidence that many do indeed share my perceptions and concerns. |
