La Leche League International (LLLI) began as a small peer support group of breastfeeding mothers in the 1950's who wanted more support in their breastfeeding journeys. Breastfeeding was not common or well supported at the time, so they began filling that support and knowledge gap. Today LLLI has grown into a large international organization that continues to support evidence-based peer-to-peer breastfeeding & pumping education and support. Their site offers a feature to find groups and leaders in your local area. "Breastfeeding Info" "Find a La Leche Leader or Group Near You" KellyMom This website, originally created by lactation consultant Kelly Bonyata, BS, IBCLC, is full of evidence-based information and resources for breastfeeding and parenting. Videos
The videos linked below cover a few particularly helpful topics for breastfeeding. **Please remember, videos and articles do not replace the valuable expertise of an IBCLC if you're struggling with breastfeeding.**
Breastfeeding Position & LatchThis video is targeted to parents breastfeeding a sick baby, and includes footage of newborns in the NICU. However, the information on infant and parent positioning, latch, and adjustments may be useful for any breastfeeding parent whose baby is still learning to latch.

The "Flipple" TechniqueThis technique is a way to encourage a deeper latch and flange the upper lip upwards. It can be helpful for a baby who has a shallow latch, or a lip tie that pulls the lip inward while nursing.
|
Hand Expression of MilkThis video gives an overview of how to express milk using your hands. This can be a very helpful skill to express and save colostrum, relieve engorgement before nursing, when separated from your baby without a pump, or to relieve a clogged milk duct.

How to Burp a NewbornThis short video has instructions on two different methods for burping a newborn baby. It also contains information on what newborn spit up is normal and what warrants a follow up with your child's care provider.
|
Paced Bottle Feeding for Breastfed BabiesThis video shows how to bottle feed a young breastfed baby with the paced feeding method. This baby-led technique mimics how babies feed at the breast, and may reduce overeating and bottle preference.

"There are occasions that arise which may prevent a mom from being able to nurse her baby. A mother who has a baby who cannot or will not latch, for whatever reason, may assume there is no choice but for her to use infant formula. There is another option however, and one that doesn’t seem to get the support or acknowledgment it deserves – exclusively pumping, also known as “EPing“.
